Imagine that a person stays awake for 453 hours and 40 minutes i.e. about 19 days without closing his eyes. You would think that this cannot happen. But it has happened. In 1986, a man named Robert McDonald did this feat and took the world record of staying awake for the longest time. This achievement was so dangerous that even the Guinness Book people who recorded challenging records around the world were defeated. He stopped this kind of calculation.
According to the report of the Daily Mail, the Guinness Book of World Records does not record the record of those who wake up continuously since then. However, he has mentioned the availability of McDonald’s on his website. It has also been told that till now no one has been able to break this record. The Guinness Book believes that it is a dangerous sport. Due to the disease of insomnia, many people may have such problems. Also, if it is carried forward then it will have to be publicized in a way which is not good in the interest of humanity.
Two students also made a record
A report by Unilad states that before McDonald’s, two students had made a record in 1963. He stayed awake continuously for 11 days for the school science project. Then it was the world record for the longest time awake, which was recorded. These children named Randy Gardner and Bruce McAllister wanted to know that if they do not get enough sleep, how much their brain will be affected. In 2018, McAllister told the BBC, we were stupid and the youth are stupid. We did not know that we would have to repent in the future life. McAllister said- Randy Gardner had taken this challenge, I just kept awake to monitor him. After three sleepless nights, he spent himself writing notes on the wall.
went into a state of short term memory loss
Sleep researcher William Dement from Stanford University recorded his achievement and did that long research. They found that Randy Gardner had gone into a state of short term memory loss. There was a lack of concentration. Had started falling prey to hallucinations. Randy’s brain scan showed that his mind was passing out the whole time. Some parts of the brain were in a state of sleep, some parts were awake. Years later in 2007, Tony Wright stayed awake for 266 hours. He hoped that he would destroy Randy’s record but this could not happen. Later, he told what changes happen in the body and mental state without sleep. He admitted that it is tiring and the brain does not work at all.
